What’s Your Opinion?

I’ve written blogs on baiting, heard horror stories from animal rescue organizations, seen the government signs, and even fed ducks when I was a kid (by the way, did you know that bread is not good for them!?) There are two sides to every story and I have a pretty good idea which side I belong on, but this is a persistent issue, which anyone walking in Weaselhead can see.

Where do we draw the line? Are there degrees of violation? Do we stop little kids from feeding chickadees in the wild? Do we forbid leaving peanuts for the animals in winter, or even giving meat to coyotes?

Everywhere I turn, I see contradictions.

There are wooden and metal birdfeeders in Weaselhead but there are also bylaws.

I have heard of people complaining, which has only resulted in warnings.

I have heard stories of deer poaching.

I have seen people leave food, and then complain about others leaving outdated food.

I am sure this is a can of worms, but I am interested in hearing the thoughts of Calgarians on this issue — leave a reply.
